Hey people its ssb again, If you haven’t seen my previous post on how to recover windows account which we forgot the password of, check it here
Tweaking OS is always the fun part. Discovering and implementing power user tips are my favorite part. Here’s what you need to know to amp up your windows 10 install and take it to next level.
1. New Keyboard shortcuts
- Win+Tab – Task view
- Win+arrow keys – Snap apps to the screen.
- Win+Ctrl+D – Create new virtual desktop
- Win+Ctrl+Left or Right key – Switch to virtual desktop
- Win+Ctrl+F4 – Delete current virtual desktop
- Win+Ctrl+C – Turn on Cortana
The GodMode brings up a special menu that includes lots of settings together in one place. To enable it we need to create a new folder in the root directory of your computer.
Mostly the root directory is C:\
Create a new folder in the root directory and name it
This will create a special icon that when you click on it shows you a beautiful and advanced control panel.
3. Command Prompt Tweaks
A lot of Windows 10 utilities underneath the service still look the same as they did in Windows 7 and Windows 8. But one of the hidden tweaks is in the Command Prompt head over to Properties and you’ll suddenly find you can enable a host of customization, including a transparent background, resizing the window, and word wrap.
4. Battery Saver
If you’re on a laptop and your battery is running low, Windows 10 is smart enough to begin throttling back background services and other threads so that you can squeeze the last bit of battery life out of your machine. To enable Battery Saver open
Start menu -> Settings -> System -> Battery Saver.
5. Hover Scrolling
When you hover your mouse over a window and try to scroll, you still can’t because the windows wasn’t active. But this can be done by a small tweak. To enable it
Goto Settings -> Devices -> Mouse and Touchpad
and enable “scroll inactive windows when i hover over them”
6. Tuning Cortana
If you’ve got a laptop, or a desktop with a microphone attached, click the search field and select the Notebook icon on the left. Then click Settings and click “Let Cortana respond to Hey Cortana.” Now Cortana will listen for your commands. Cortana can also use Google instead of Bing, Install the Chrometana extension in Chrome, or just install Firefox and make that your default browser; both will accomplish the task of removing Bing from Cortana.
7. Dark Mode
Lots of computer users like it, and Apple acknowledged this by building a dark mode into their OS X operating system. Now Microsoft has followed it, but sadly, Apple provided a clear simple tick box, Microsoft makes you search through the Registry.
If you want dark theme and you want a dark Windows operating system, then open up your Run (win+R) and type
regedit to open the Registry.
Then go to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER > SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > CurrentVersion > Themes > Personalize
In the right-hand list is one called “AppsUseLightTheme”. Double-click on that to open the box, and change “Value Data” from a 1 to 0. Click “OK” to close.
If you do not see “AppsUseLightTheme,” you can create it by right-clicking in the registry window, selecting New, and then selecting DWORD (32-bit) Value. Make sure the “value data” field is set to 0.
By changing the value to 0, you are switching off the Light Theme, and reverting everything to Dark. But to see the change, you need to log out of your PC and log back in. If you decide to abandon black, you just need to change that 0 back to 1, or just delete the value.
8. Pure Delete
There are some software that can recover the files you delete even when you shift delete something these software can recover it for you. But for some reason if you want to delete them purely so that even those software can’t recover it.
To do this open command prompt and type
where C is the drive letter, you can change it with whichever drive you want. This will overwrite the free space with some unwanted data and will delete it. So that noone can recover the files you deleted.
It will take some time to complete the process.
That’s it for now guys. Will come back soon.
